The peculiar thing about the Christian faith is that it’s not a set of beliefs; it’s a relationship
God does not “make things happen,” but God is in every moment with the energy of compassion, creativity and blessing. Even when we intend evil, God intends good.
In falling we can realize our own weaknesses and recognize the power of God.
We can infect the world with love the same way yeast infects the batter. Both can rise and become good things. Will we?
Simplicity is the freedom to recognize that all gifts come from God. To live simply is to free ourselves to serve others.
When we judge experiences as “good” or “bad” we close ourselves off from actually experiencing them. We also are often wrong. We don’t actually know what may be “good” in the long run. Be present without judging.
Like Jacob realizing God was in the place where he had his vision, we might realize God has been present with us, if only we were paying attention. Contemplative presence is a way of paying attention.
In the Bible, the family is a safe place to work out our conflicts. Maybe that’s why God makes us all– every human being–one family.
