The “Saints” are not people who are exceptionally good; they’re people who trust God to be exceptionally good. This trust fills their lives with God’s light.
The whole point of our religion is simply to become more loving. This is our true “Reformation.” It begins in letting God love us as God does: deeply, steadfastly, viscerally, fiercely, no matter what.
We belong to God. The purpose of life is to give ourselves back.
It is human nature to look back at our past when we are anxious. Like, the Israelites, we make idols of the Church we remember – and sometimes, we “weep and gnash” our teeth that things have changed. But God invites us to resist the pull of “idols” and focus on the the Church in this place and time.
The ten Commandments are not laws we have to follow or be punished. They’re a description of what it looks like to live in Covenant with God– like marriage vows.
