Tomorrow? How about Today?

Sunday Worship Service

June 13, 2021

We are RECEIVED as the Beloved of God

The actual worship service begins 15 minutes into the recordings.

OPENING SONG – “Come, Now is the Time to Worship (Worship & Song # 3176)

WELCOME

OPENING PRAYER
Loving Father/Mother, you created us in your image and made us sisters and brothers in Christ. And yet we do not all stand equal.  As we begin to emerge from the dark times of the past year, once again we are reminded of our privilege: good medical care; access to vaccines; kind friends and many strangers who helped us through the tangle of websites in order to make appointments and drove us to those appointments if needed.  In their many ways they acted as Good Samaritans to us in this time of anxiety and uncertainty. As our lives return to a more familiar pattern, help us remember those in our community, our nation, and in our world who are still deeply affected by this virus and all the dislocations it has caused.  Help us to  be Good Samaritans to them in whatever way we are able.
In the name of our brother, Jesus Christ, we pray.
Amen.

SONG – Be Still, My Soul (UM Hymnal # 534)

MESSAGE FOR ALL AGES

SONG – Bread for the World

We are TRANSFORMED by the Word of God

James 4:13-17
Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil. If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.

GOOD NEWS – Tomorrow? How about Today?
The Good News for this Sunday is that God wants us live one day at a time.

SONG – This Is the Day (UM Hymnal # 657)

THE HOLY COMMUNION

RESPONSE TO GOD’S GRACE (OFFERING)
Pastor: God wants our love more than God wants our offerings; God cares about our hearts not the amounts of our offerings. (Hosea 6:6).
All: As we count all the blessings God has already given to us, we cheerfully give our offerings to God, the Provider, with grateful hearts. Amen! (2 Corinthians 9:7).
