The Church is a community of people who have been set free, and are becoming free, for the sake of the freeing of all the world. What is God setting you free from right now?

God is always trying to get our attention. What is the burning bush God places before you? Are you listening?

God does not “make things happen,” but God is in every moment with the energy of compassion, creativity and blessing. Even when we intend evil, God intends good.

Like Jacob realizing God was in the place where he had his vision, we might realize God has been present with us, if only we were paying attention. Contemplative presence is a way of paying attention.

In the Bible, the family is a safe place to work out our conflicts. Maybe that’s why God makes us all– every human being–one family.

The story of Abraham’s near sacrifice of Isaac is about how religion changes. How is your own faith evolving? Is there something that has been “bound” in you, that you thought you needed to do away with, that God might actually want you to set free?

God needs us to be a blessing for the world: we are “blessed to be a blessing.” But to take the blessing to the world, we have to go where God leads us, away from the familiar and into the unknown. But don’t worry. In our unknowing, where we are not in control, we meet God.
