Early Response Disaster Training

Being prepared to respond to the next disaster is one way to live out our call to love our neighbor.

The objective of Early Response Team (ERT) training is to equip United Methodist volunteers with the skills necessary to perform altruistic acts during disaster response and recovery while ensuring that no harm is inflicted.

Our ERT program encompasses the essential components of initial disaster response including roof tarping, clearing out damaged residences, providing spiritual and emotional support, and following team protocols.

Individuals and teams responding in the immediate aftermath of a disaster may be required to possess proper credentials. Participants who successfully complete this training will receive these credentials, including an Early Response Team (ERT) badge.

The training sessions are open to all individuals aged 18 and older. Each participant will be subject to a background check conducted by UMCOR and must also complete Safer Sanctuary training.

Training sessions are being scheduled in each of our districts:

All trainings are 9 am to 5 pm. Lunch is included. Cost is $35.
