Partakers is a local non-profit that pairs community mentors with incarcerated men and women earning college degrees through Tufts, Emerson, and BC. Why? Because education is the single strongest factor in reducing recidivism, the rate at which people return to prison. Nationally, 75% of people return to prison within five years, but for those who earn a college degree, it drops to 5%.
Join us to learn more about college in prison, meet a couple of Tufts students who are now home, and what it’s like to be a mentor. Hear some previous inmates’ stories about how education in prison changed their lives. Bring your curiosity and questions, and bring a friend!
