Fuel Fund

Every fall, we collect our spare change in our “fuel jars.” This change (often over $1,000) is given to ‘A Friend in Need’ to provide assistance to families experiencing an emergency inability to pay home fuel bills.

A Friend in Need provides one-time emergency assistance to residents of Acton, Boxborough, and Maynard who have been identified to the program by a caseworker, social worker, or clergy person.

AFIN depends on the generous support of individuals, companies, churches, Acton-Boxborough United Way, Maynard Community Chest, and other local organizations.  A Friend in Need is an all-volunteer organization, and 100% of donations go to the emergency assistance we provide.
