This fall Companions in Christ: A Small Group Experience in Spiritual Growth will be offered at Saint Matthew’s UMC. Companions immerses people in the spiritual practices of study, prayer, wondering and wandering in Scripture, ministry, worship and conversation with others.

The weave and flow of the inward and outward journey we live as Christians is explored through topics such as the Christian life journey, approaching Scripture through meditation and imagination, the nature of prayer and prayer practices, and our call as Christians to live rooted in Christ’s love in order to be radically available for love and service in the world. Participants engage in daily reading and reflection, and once a week gather with others to share and to experientially explore the theme of the week.

The groups will begin in mid-October and continue until early May. Companions is open to anyone (men and women) who wants to grow in their relationship with God in the company of others, and who is able to embrace diversity. Groups will meet Monday evenings or Tuesday mornings.

Pray about and consider this opportunity to draw closer to God, yourself, and to others in the church community, and if this calls out to you, register to join a group. You will soon find registration forms on-line on the church’s website and on the Information Wall in the church front entryway. Registration will continue until the groups fill.

For more information contact Beth Garnaas-Holmes, who will be guiding the groups (bethandstevegh(@)gmail.com), or talk with former participants Betsy Comstock, Lynne Osborn, Susan Zuckerman, Ann Drumm or Marcia Rasmussen.
