Pastor’s Reflection: The Gospel in a nutshell

Dearly Beloved,

Grace and Peace to you.

In all things we are more than conquerors
through the one who loved us.
For I am convinced that neither death, nor life,
nor angels, nor rulers,
nor things present, nor things to come,
nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation,
will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

—Romans 8.37-39

This the gospel in a nutshell.
Nothing can separate you from God’s love:
not your sin or suffering, your belief or unbelief,
not time or space or death. Nothing.

It’s all Jesus wanted to show us.
It’s all you need to know
to trust God, to deepen your faith,
to change your life,
to fall in love into God’s arms.

It’s all you need to know
to endure your suffering,
to find your way through this passage,
to hope in the darkness and
trust in the face of despair and even cruelty.

It’s all you need to know
to live with love and courage,
to act with kindness,
to love your enemy and pray for those who persecute you.

It’s all you need to know
to speak the truth,
to act with courage for justice,
to bear witness against all resistance,
to stand unbowed for God’s dream
of the unity of all people, all Creation.

God’s love is in you,
and nothing can separate it from you.
Trust this, give thanks,
and live in love.

Deep Blessings,
Pastor Steve
